Advent Day 5: The Earthly Father Versus the Heavenly Father

Scripture Passage: (Isaiah 26:4)

Trust in the Lord forever!

For the Lord is an eternal Rock.

Reflection

We always forget the God is omnipresent.  We know He exists but it is hard to imagine Him beside us every single moment.  Psalm 33:13-14  reminds us of this:

From heaven the LORD looks down

and observes the children of Adam

From his dwelling place he surveys

all who dwell on earth.

The One who fashioned together their hearts

is the One who knows all their works.

Whether we believe this or not, He is with us.  He is God and we cannot limit what He can do.   However, our perception of God can be skewed by our relationship with our spiritual authorities.

If one has a good loving relationship with their earthly father, it is easy to love the Heavenly Father.  All we have to do is love Him like how we loved our father.  But, if our earthly father is busy and distant, we will most likely think that our Heavenly Father is a God who is busy to look into the details of our life.

Thus, the enemy will work hard to ruin the relationship between the earthly father and their children.  The devil will just  have to keep your Dad engrossed with his work.  He can just give a lie that Dads just need to focus on providing for the material welfare of their families.

If our Dad betrayed us, it will be difficult to trust the Heavenly Father.  It is very important to forgive our Dads on their shortcoming.  Do not hold resentment to your father.  Do not keep that bitterness.  Be free by saying, "I forgive you Dad."

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, help me to forgive my father today.  Dad, I forgive you for being distant to me.  Dad, I forgive you for your stern remarks.  Dad, I forgive you for not giving me enough time of your busy schedule.  Dad, I forgive you when you prioritize your friends and business acquaintances over me.  Dad, I forgive you if you have not loved my mother the way I feel you should.  Dad, I forgive you for not being able to provide for us.

Lord, forgive me for believing the lies of the enemy that my Dad deserves the bitterness that reigns in my heart.  Today, I forgive my Dad.  I claim healing and I ask the Holy Spirit to give me the spirit of forgiveness so I can love  my Dad like you love him  Thank you Jesus.  I adore, love you with my whole heart. Amen.
